'Have you forgotten where the Heart of Cyberpunk is?'
Hong Kong is the heart of cyberpunk culture. “Blade Runner” a Hollywood film co-produced by Shaw Brothers in 1982, has depicted stunning futuristic Cyber cityscapes that was heavily influenced by Hong Kong and was famously considered to be the classic cyberpunk film of all time that spearheaded and cultivated the genre.
Since after that, cyberpunk can never be separated from Hong Kong, and tons of work belong to the cyberpunk genre have been produced with Hong Kong as part of the futuristic aesthetics. Some scenes in Ghost in the Shell were filmed in Sham Shui Po, where saturated neon lights and metropolitan style high-rises create the ideal aesthetic and mood.
“Heart of Cyberpunk” is a genre-defying immersive experience festival event headlining fashion design, merging subcultural universe with the local community together to put forward collaboration between talents from Fashion design, Comic illustrations, 3D digital Art & Interactive theatrical performance.
Through the re-creation of a futuristic yet surreal cinematic environment, visitors are invited to dress up in cyberpunk outfit and participate in this hyper-sensorial experience, explore the intersection of fashion design, lighting installations, street art, and technology. Visitors will become an important part of this mini cyber city that comprises of a futuristic market with themed merchandise, immersive fashion experience and dress up party all-in-one.
Guests will also find themselves taking an active role and becoming their own sci-fi characters when they engage in our themed and narrated role-playing walking tour led by the locals, cruising through the streets in Sham Shui Po and engaging with the local community.
